Common Questions

Everything you need to know before applying.

Is there a long-term contract?

No. Month-to-month. Stay as long as it works for you. 30 days notice to leave.

Do I need my own insurance?

Yes. Artists are responsible for insuring their own inventory while on premises.

How do I track my sales?

Every artist gets a private portal with real-time sales, payouts, and full history.

What if nothing sells?

Month-to-month means you can walk away anytime. But our location gets thousands of visitors -- if the work is good, it sells.

Can I sell at other venues too?

Absolutely. This is non-exclusive. Sell at markets, online, other galleries -- wherever you want.

25% commission -- isn't that a lot?

Standard gallery commission is 40-50%. Wholesale is 50%. At 25%, you keep more here than almost anywhere else.

What are the shifts about?

Collective Residents work 2 shifts per month (Apr-Dec, Fri-Mon) staffing the floor. Staff covers Tue-Thu. You get POS training on day one. Gallery opens in March (staff-only ramp-up) — no shifts until April. Or choose Collective Exhibitor and skip shifts entirely.

How do I get paid?

Payout checks are available for pickup at the Collective once a month. No waiting on the mail. Your artist portal shows exactly what you earned.

We're still building this out ourselves -- choosing the right mix of artists, setting up displays, and getting the space ready. That means early artists get real input into how this gallery takes shape.

We're excited to meet you.

-- Brad & the Maine Pottery team
